How to Use Jabber on a Computer

In Jabber you can chat and make calls as well.

1. On the search bar, type the name person you would like to contact.

If the user comes up as Offline, that person is not logged into Jabber ATM and will not see your chat or receive the call (if the user is only using Jabber).

If the user is on a call, you will also see that.

2. You can click on the Message icon or the phone icon, based on whether you want to Chat or call the fellow employee.

When you point the mouse over the chat icon, it expands and shows the icons a bigger. You can select the Chat or Phone icons from there as well.

3. Once the Chat window opens, you can start chatting.

 

You will need to press the Enter key, in order to send your message.

4. The menu on bottom right gives you options to, change font, add users to a Jabber group, emoticons and to expand the window. At the moment you cannot add attachments or pictures on Jabber.

5. If you would like to call the fellow employee, while on the chat, you can just click on the phone button on the top right.

6. Once you click on the icon, it will dialed out and when the user picks up, the window would look like this one:

4. If your computer has a camera and the other user as well, you can do a video call as well. Just need to press on the Start My Video icon. To stop it, just press stop my video.

5. When dialing a number, whether you search for the person or enter manually the extension, the window will look like this one:

6. To transfer a call, click on the More icon and select transfer..

7. On the search bar, enter the extension you are transferring to, then click on the phone icon or press the Enter key.

8. Once the person you are transferring to answers, you may press the transfer button.

 

9. In Jabber you can also do conference calls by pressing the more button and the conference option.

10. On the search, type the name of the person or enter phone and  / or extension.
