Importing Saved Passwords from Okta to Google Chrome password manager using CSV

Summary

A guide on how to migrate saved credentials using a CSV

Body

To make this process much quicker, we've attached a CSV file to this article to help you migrate multiple passwords at once. There is an example entry at the top that should be removed prior to importing the file into Google Password Manager. If there is no data in a particular cell or column, Chrome will import it as blank. For instance, if the "name” and "note" columns are empty. That means Chrome will import the password without the friendly name and custom note of the password entry.

Finding and copying passwords from Okta

Note that you will only be able to copy out usernames and passwords from personal sites you've added to Okta, or had the Okta extension save for you. Any TSTC applications won't have this information available and will be migrated over to the new RSA dashboard.

  1. Go to your app dashboard at https://login.tstc.edu
  2. Locate the application you would like to save credentials for, and click the 3 dots to to view its sign on information. If there is no password listed, that means the application is already tied to your OneID sign-on and no further action will be needed. If a password is present, proceed with the next steps.

  3. A sidebar will open containing the saved information for the site. You'll need to click the Reveal button and re-enter your OneID password and 2FA code before being able to see passwords. You should only need to do this once. Note that the saved password may or may not display the URL associated with the site. Here are examples of each:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  4.  Copy and paste information into the CVS file included in this article.
