Requesting an Office 365 License for students.

Tags office365

There are two different versions of Office365 TSTC students have access to.

  • They can sign up for free student accounts themselves at Office Online for Education.
This version is online only. There is no download options for software. You can send these instructions to students who do not need a licensed version of Office.
  • Students can receive a licensed version of Office 365 but the request for a license must come from an instructor and the request must have required information. (see Creating Accounts)

To tell what version a student is logged into, the upper right hand corner of the screen should show their account information.

Creating accounts

In order to create an accounts for each student in your class, please prepare an Excel Spreadsheet with the following information:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Mymail Email address
  • Student ID number
  • Expected Graduation Term

Once you have the spreadsheet prepared, open a ticket with OIT and include the spreadsheet.  Once the ticket is received by the Application Administrator, accounts will get created and the admin will send you a spreadsheet back with log in information for your class. You will be responsible for getting the information to the student since the bulk creation of accounts does not allow for emails to be sent individually.

Unable to log into Office 365

If you have requested accounts for your class and you have students who are unable to log in, first make sure they student is using their TSTCUsername@O365.tstc.edu. Students with licensed accounts should have access with this user name. If they still are unable to log in, they will need to reach out the the Help Desk for a password reset. New passwords will be sent to their mymail email address.

Missing software in Azure Portal

Students and Faculty with licensed accounts have access to download software for the Microsoft Azure Portal. If the student logs into the portal and is missing software, they may not have yet registered yet. You can tell if there is a purple banner on their screen.

They can click the banner, fill out the form and when they go back to the portal they should then have access to more software.
