Setting up CBORD Squadron Controller

Purpose: To set up a cbord squadron controller, in this case for aerospace gates.

There are two articles that give different information provided from the vendor. The more detailed one that goes into more detail, and doesn't require logging into CSgold, is covered first here. I found the article listed first to be more effective.

How to Use Squadron Install Wizard in Stand-alone Mode?

KBA-10276-Y5C7Q3

Question

How to use Squadron install wizard (SIW) in stand-alone mode?

Answer

Make sure the Squadron controller's IP setting is at factory default (10.19.4.129) -

(If uncertain, use the factory reset procedure in Squadron installation guide to do so.)

1)     Set your computer's IP setting to 10.19.4.130

2)     Set your computer's subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

3)     Set your computer's default gateway to 10.19.4.1

4)     Connect your computer directly to the Squadron controller via a network cable.

5)     Make sure all CS Gold client GUI sessions are closed.

6)     Run SquadronInstallWizard.exe from C:\CBORD\DCS\Gold\Bin (Typically located there, if not, search for it via Windows Explorer.)

7)     When asked to log in, select the Cancel button.

8)     Look at the Windows Taskbar, select Squadron Config Wizard (SCW).

9)     Select the Yes button in the SCW dialog window of 'Would you like to enter stand-alone mode?'

10)  In the dropdown select Factory Default (10.19.4.129)

11)  Click the Configure button

12)  Click the ‘Use the following IP address’ radio button

13)  Enter the desired IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway.  Do not change any other settings.

14) Click Save.& Exit  The panel will restart.  It will not reconnect due to your laptop being in the subnet of the default IP address.

Squadron Panel IP Configuration

Items needed:

  1. 1 network cable
  2. 1 Squadron V1000 Panel set to factory default IP ( to verify panel is at factory default, follow panel reset instructions in Appendix A below).
  3. 1 laptop/machine with CS Gold application installed
  4. Squadron power supply to apply power to Squadron V1000 panel

Preparation Steps:

  1. Configure Network Card you will be connecting your network cable to with an IP that belongs to the same subnet as the factory default IP address of the Squadron panel:

For Windows 7:

Go to Control Panel à Network and Internet à Network and Sharing Center à Local Area Connection

Click on Properties box:

Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click the Properties box:

Change your IP, default gateway, and subnet mask to match the subnet of your factory default Squadron V1000 panel (the settings in the screenshot below should work just fine) and click OK:

  • NOTE: Please take note of and/or write down your settings before you change them. You will have to change these back when you are done configuring your panels.

Running Squadron Installation Wizard to Configure your Panel:

  1. Go to the root installation directory for CS Gold:

For 4.x: C:\Diebold\DCS\Gold\bin

For 5.x and 6.x: C:\CBORD\DCS\Gold\bin

Here you should find an executable called SquadronInstallWizard. Click on this:

  1. This will prompt you to log into CS Gold. You can enter your credentials, but you may not be on the network since your preparation steps changed your network settings. If you have no wireless connection out, this will fail and ask you if you want to run Squadron Installation Wizard in Standalone Mode. Click Yes to continue:

This will automatically come up to the Network Configuration screen and have the factory default IP filled in (factory default IP is 10.19.4.129). After making sure you have your network cable connected to your NIC card and the other end of your network cable connected to your Squadron panel with power applied to it, click on the Configure button:

Once connected to your panel, you should see the following screen. Here you will leave the radio button for Obtain IP address automatically if you are planning on using DHCP or fill in the IP address, subnet mask, and Gateway if you are assigning a static IP address to your panel and click Next through your prompts:

  • Do NOT change the Network Identification Settings.

Here you will see the following message after the panel has been configured, but this connection testing will fail. Do not be alarmed. If you are configuring the panel with an IP address outside of the subnet for factory default, you won’t be able to connect to the panel anymore. Your panel is now configured:

If you are done configuring panels, you can exit out of the Wizard by clicking on Exit and Undo changes

Appendix A

Resetting Squadron Panel Back to Factory Default:

IP addresses can be reset to factory network configuration defaults by resetting the Squadron board during the first heartbeat (but before the second heartbeat) three times in a row. This usually requires a total of four resets. The LED blinks green eight times to indicate the reload of the default network configuration, and the board will automatically reset to make the default configuration active.
