Colleague Webadvisor Backup/Restore Procedure

Purpose:

The Office of Information Technology recognizes that backup and maintenance of data for its servers is critical to the viability and success of the college. It is essential that basic standard practices be followed to ensure that data is backed up on a regular basis.

The following is the Backup Plan for the Colleague Webadvisor Server Plan:

  1. What will be backed up:

    • The Colleague Webadvisor application software and associated system files will be backed up monthly.

  2. How will this be backed up:
    The Colleague Webadvisor data will be backed up monthly as part of monthly patching and cloning procedures.

    • Backups are done automatically when Webadvisor is updated on the server as part of the update process. 

    •  Backups are stored on the server in the Webadvisor Student folder as installer_backup_date_time

    • The actions of the backups are captured in the preinstall log, located in the App_Data\Logs directory with preinstall_date_time.log

  3. Backup Schedule and Window: 

    • The backup window for the Webadvisor server backup is monthly between 4:00AM to 6:00AM

    • Backup window to ensure optimal success

    • A check of the system shall occur to ensure all features are functioning properly

  4. Restoration of Webadvisor

    • Should Webadvisor need to be restored, this can be done via a reinstall of the application following the Setting Up Colleague Self Service documentation from Ellucian and can be found here:

    • Backups can then be restored from the backup folders in the Colleague Webadvisor directory
