Encrypting a File or Folder in Google Drive

Find the folder or file you would like to encrypt in your Google Drive, right click and select "Open With" and choose "Syscloud Encryption for Google Drive".

You will be prompted to create a Password for the file or folder. Passwords must follow basic Password rules 1 captital, 1 lower case, 1 number, and 1 special character 

Click "Encrypt", this prosses may take a few minutes depending on file size. When encryption is complete the file or folder extention will change to .syscloud

TIPS:

Only the owner can encrypt a file or folder.

If you encrypt a folder, all files inside the folder will also be encrypted.

The owner does not have to enter a password to decrypt the file. If you can not remember a password, open the file with Syscloud, Uncheck the Auto encrypt the file after Modification, Select Decrypt. When the file opens, close the file and go back to your file in Google Drive and encrypt it again.

Sharing an Encrypted File

To share the encrypted file or folder right click and select "Share" select the users you will like to share the file or folder with and the level of access you will like to give them

Send the user the password separately.

The new user will recive a email letting them know that they now have access.

To open the encrypted file, the user will need to click the "Syscloud Encryption for Google Drive" under Connected Apps.

When the password screen displys, they will need to enter the password you provided them.

If you are opening a file with edit rights, you will be allowed to edit the file and then the file will be encrypted again when you close it.

If the file or folder is sent to a user who is using a personal gmail account an additional email will be sent automatically with instructions on how to install Syscloud Encryption so they may open it.
