Scenario: There are times when users encounter issues opening PDF files. It's possible that when a PDF file was downloaded and the option to open with was set to a browser like Edge, for example. Now the files automaticall open with that browsers, instead of Acrobat Reader or Pro.
This can be fixed by doing the following:
1. if you loook at the file below, the icon doesn't look like the typical file that would be open with Adobe.
Right Click on the file and select Properties
2. Notice that although the file type is PDF, Opens with is set to Edge. So, we would click on Change
3. From the list, select Adobe Acrobat DC and click OK. If you have the professional version, it may say Acrobat 2017 for example.
4. Now you will see that the open with is showing as Adobe Acrobat Reader, but still shows the icon as previous. This is because we need to clickon Apply, then OK. At this point the changes will take place.
5. if you check the file once more, will notice that the icon changed and when rigth clicking on it, the open with is set correctly.
